Theater
A Special Place was created to give those with IDD a place to make friends and have a great time. Theater gives them an outlet to express themselves and helps them develop self-confidence and stage presence. We hear their voices a little louder every year and see their smiles are a little bigger. They are excited to come to practice and be with their friends.
Dance & Social Media
Our group from the theater was having so much fun we did not want it to end. So we decided to continue meeting on Fridays at Alleluia Church, from 6-7:30 pm. We learn new dances that will be posted to social media! Please check Events for dates!!!
Each Summer, we celebrate being together at our "Backyard Bash," where we share hot dogs and chips before the scavenger hunt and movie under the stars. Bring your stadium chairs and blankets!
Keeping Fit
A Saturday morning is a great time to work out at the park. Whether it is strength training, endurance training, or Yoga, it is always more fun with friends and, of course, a great instructor who cares about us!
Join Us!
We believe that each performance enhances the lives of all who participate. The volunteers have as much fun as everyone else. Once they join us, they become friends and volunteer.
Our cast members can showcase their creative talents. They become "celebrated" by their families and friends. Friends and extended family come together once a year to watch a beautiful production and to celebrate them! It is a wonderful experience..
Please come and be a part of this special event. This will be a moment to remember, a true work of art.
A Special Place is a not for profit 501(c)(3) that is committed to changing lives.
The programs offer activities to keep our minds and spirits full! The participants cannot age out. Everyone is welcome!

Are you looking to hang out with a circle of friends? Friday nights typically include high school age and above. We play games, dance and do what other young adults do together. Sometimes we have themes like A New Year's Eve Party, Super Bowl Party, Halloween Party, and more!
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue to offer theater classes to everyone without cost. We dream big, and look for ways to help our young adults live full lives. We are always looking for ways to help them live better and live more independently.
Your generous donation will fund our mission.
